Di Giuditta R
Giuditta creates most of her artworks by using pencils (graphite) and mixed on cardboard. Drawing inspiration from the Avant-garde’s Expressionism, New Figuration by Francis Bacon, cinema (thriller-horror), contemporary photography, as well as from crimes’ archives. The artworks are generally created in a black white (pencils-support). Only little particulars are underlined, in each artwork, by evident or colored glitters, shiny little objects, emerging drastically or with difficulty, from each representation: -”…small details that shine in the obscurity, bright jewels, hamlets, lucky charms, butterflies, indicating hope for a future of freedom and consciousness. These bright elements symbolize the eyes of conscience and give light to darkness…” The Butterfly is an expression of the vital movement. It’s process is related to the continuous regeneration. Its coming into the world in the form of a caterpillar, represents a primordial state, however characterized by the path towards perfection, towards the purest beauty. The natural metamorphosis of the butterfly is basically symbol of spiritual transformation and rebirth. It represents the soul leaving the body, reaching a higher state of perfection. This concept profoundly affects human beings, who are thus encouraged to reflect on their own spiritual transformation. Even in humans there is an evolutionary project, a sort of disposition to the improvement, a tension to the elevation and the spirit. The human form is nothing but a phase of evolution towards a wider ”Being”. Analysing the metamorphosis of the butterfly, ”Vanessa’s Room” represents a dimension inside of the human consciousness, a space where deep psychological features are yet mysterious, a meeting point between time and eternity. The project aims to be a deep reflection on self-awareness. *Vanessa’s meaning Vanessa is a genus of brush- footed butterflies. This species usually lives in temperate zones, but makes migration north in the spring and occasionally in the fall. It is one of the few species of butterflies sighted in northern Europe before the arrival of winter.
