Eunic Women in science

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the EU National Institutes for Culture network in Denmark, EUNIC, (Austria, Belgium/Flanders, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Spain and Ukraine) in collaboration with the Niels Bohr Institute, is thrilled to present an event dedicated to women in science.

This gathering will bring together esteemed European scientists from various disciplines to talk about their career paths, whether in the private or public sectors, and to share their experiences and insights.

* Lucia Perugini holds a PhD in forest ecology with a scientific background in forestry and climate change. She is currently working at the European Environment Agency as Expert on Carbon farming Certification and climate mitigation in the land sector, position she has held since 2023. Prior to her current role, she worked as researcher at the Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (CMCC in Italy, 2013-23). During this time, she contributed to several national and European research projects related to land and carbon removals, carbon markets and relevant links between the scientific and policy communities. For around 20 years she was part of the Italian delegation at the UNFCCCC negotiations (2003-23), dealing on issues related to forest, agriculture and climate change mitigation. Between 2003 and 2010 she was actively involved as forestry expert in afforestation projects as team leader or as forest carbon sequestration expert, in several countries around the world, including China, Argentina, Mozambique, Ghana, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine, and Albania.
